Third-Year Medical Student Finds Balance in the Lab

While many medical students in the Class of 2013 are starting their clinical clerkships, Samuel Beckerman is using this time to achieve his idea of balance: getting a jump-start on the Ph.D. in neuroscience he wants to earn alongside his M.D.

The third-year student in the Miller School’s M.D./Ph.D program is working at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis in the Laboratory for Axon Growth and Guidance under the direction of Vance Lemmon, Ph..D., professor of neurological surgery and the Walter G.
